Designers Look Heavenward for Inspiration
November 21, 2007 – Designers' blue-sky thinking resulted in some pretty dreamy frocks for Spring. Airy, sugar-spun poufs floated down the runways at Giles, Nina Ricci, and Jil Sander, while Marni's Consuelo Castiglioni created her cloudlike effects with ombré and dyes. Working both sides of the divide, Zac Posen whipped up his voluminous evening gowns in stormy shades of blue, violet, and gray. Erin Fetherston, whose collection was dubbed Flights of Fancy, went for a similar sculptural look, but with more technical fabrics. "I loved putting a bit of frothy, floaty, dreamlike substance into my pieces," she said.
